Is it a lithium battery?
No. CeyCell is a thermo-chemical heat battery. It stores energy as heat in a patented chemical gel, not as charge in lithium cells. That is what makes it non-flammable and long-lasting.
Is it safe?
Yes. It is not lithium, so the material does not burn — that is why it is non-flammable, non-explosive and heat stable. The University of Moratuwa also tested the system to IEC 61427-1:2013, the off-grid solar performance standard. It is fully sealed and manages its own heat, with no fans or pumps.
How is it tested?
The Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Moratuwa tested it. That is Sri Lanka's top engineering university. It also meets IEC 61427-1:2013, the international standard for off-grid solar use.
How long does it run?
